5 autumn riding outfit essentials
Continuing with our equestrian theme on the blog this week, we at The Finer Horse have been looking at stylish autumn outfit ideas for riding and yard duties, which both look good and can cope with the often unpredictable weather at this time of year.
Here are our picks for a great autumn look…
Spooks Penny gilet
We’re big fans of the Spooks brand at The Finer Horse, and our founder Hannah swears by her show jacket that is still looking as good as new after years of wearing and washing (yes really!) – including 18 months of almost daily use.
This gorgeous quilted Penny gilet looks really stylish, and is perfect for layering without the bulk as it has an internal waistcoat that can be zipped up when more warmth is required. The gilet even comes with an attached hood for those times when a sudden rain shower threatens to ruin your look.
Harcour Amelia top
Under the gilet we love the chic Amelia competition shirt by the brand Harcour. Although this is marketed as a competition shirt, we can attest this well-made shirt also works brilliantly as a base layer for every day use, being warm and quick drying as well as providing an elegant alternative to a basic long sleeve-shirt.
Horseware Aylesbury breeches
Moving to breeches, we know that finding the right pair can be a bit of a ‘holy grail’ moment, but we think we’ve found the perfect autumn/winter pair – the Horseware Aylesbury Hunting Breeches. With a fleece lining and a technical fabric outer that’s designed to be wind and waterproof, we’d live in these during the chillier months, and their full suede seat for extra grip in the saddle is a definite bonus for riding chilly (and ‘fresh’ horses) either out hunting or just for a lesson in the school.
Tredstep Winter Merino socks
As lovers of cosy feet we couldn’t resist talking about these thermo-insulated socks from Tredstep. Made of cosy merino wool, we love the snowflake design and with clever anatomic details like a padded heel to minimise rubbing in stiff riding boots, we think these are a must for the colder months.
Amelia Jane bobble hat
To complete the look, we’ve picked this lovely bobble hat from Amelia Jane. Luxurious, cosy and stylish, with a fun pom pom (which can be removed to allow the hat to be washed), we think this is a super way of keeping your head and ears from getting cold at this time of year.
