Universally understated British luxury - Evemy & Evemy

One of the (many) great things about there being such a variety of fantastic British brands is that there is truly something for every taste. While some may prefer an ‘edgier’ or more ‘blingy’ look, there are others still who prefer a more pared-back, classic feel, and for this we can’t recommend anyone more than Evemy & Evemy.

With a long-held love of both British fashion and the country lifestyle aesthetic, Sophie Carroll, Founder and Director of Evemy & Evemy, had what she calls her ‘lightbulb moment’ in 2016, when she fulfilled a dream of setting up her own business and set up the brand we see today.

So what influences the collections?

Sophie primarily cites her mother Anna O'Neill, the celebrated illustrator and print maker behind Box Room Press, as a major inspiration. As well as being the key collaborator with the brand’s popular silk scarf range, Sophie’s mother has always encouraged a real appreciation for quality fabrics and design in her daughter. Evidence of this runs throughout Evemy & Evemy’s collection, as well as other inspirations from the British countryside and more fashion/catwalk led trends.

As you might imagine from a founder that also cites the British country lifestyle as a major inspiration, all the items from Evemy & Evemy’s collection are made in Britain. Aside from the convenience of being able to visit all her suppliers in person, Sophie recognises that there are many of us who actively look for the label ‘Made in Britain’ and who are looking to support our domestic manufacturing industry, and it’s so encouraging to see that such beautiful high-quality products can be found here in Britain.

So what are our picks from the current collection?

Barley – British Cotton Cape

Epitomising the fusion of city fashion and country lifestyle that has become the hallmark of Evemy & Evemy, the first piece and continuing cornerstone of the collection is the Barley British Cotton Cape. The ideal mix of useful and stylish, the cape is so wearable for the everyday, but is equally elegant for those special days when you need something a bit smarter. Fully lined and with a gorgeous Donegal tweed collar, we can see this showerproof cape become a real wardrobe staple.

Pluma – Illustrated Game Bird Feather Silk scarf

The theme of understated luxury continues with this gorgeously flattering silk scarf. With the traditional rolled edge and pretty game bird feather print, the delicately muted tones of this scarf make it one of the most versatile we’ve seen when it comes to wearing in both town and country. The print itself is perfect for those of us that love the natural beauty of game bird feather designs and want to celebrate country pursuits in a more subtle way than some other designs we’ve seen.

Alpaca Boot socks

With the temperature dropping and toes going numb during the colder months, we’re always on the lookout for a good warm pair of socks. While the market is awash with lovely snuggly pairs of lounge/bed socks, keeping those toes warm when we’re out and about is also a challenge and Evemy & Evemy has got us covered with this gorgeous pair of stripy socks in a soft but durable alpaca mix. We love the unusual colour combination of cream and grey broad stripes and, as with the other pieces in the Evemy & Evemy collection, we know these work equally well whether you’re creating a look for an afternoon by a cosy pub fire, or for a day pounding the city streets.
